More Information

Martina in Hagbourne can help treat larger thread veins on the body.Microsclerotherapy is the treatment designed to manage problem veins from telangiectasia to small reticular veins. The best treatment for these small veins is using a sclerosing agent such as Fibrovein. Lasers are sometimes used to treat thread veins in the legs, but comparative trials show microsclerotherapy to be superior for treatment on the body. If you also have larger varicose veins, then treating these is often also necessary to control the appearance of more thread veins.

Fibrovein blocks the veins by irreversibly damaging the blood vessel walls. The solution irritates the lining of the vein causing the walls of the vein to stick together. Blood stops flowing through the veins which are then absorbed by the body’s natural defence mechanism.

Some patients need more than one treatment to get the best results. We would recommend further treatment after three months if any remaining veins have not disappeared.

Ailsa offers thread vein removal on the face in Wantage using IPL treatment. IPL involves controlled use of a Broad Spectrum Light emitted onto the treatment area, which heats the haemoglobin found in small capillaries, causing the thread veins to collapse and break down. An average of 1-3 treatments are usually required spaced 4 weeks apart. Advice will also be given to help reduce the recurrence of the thread veins. We like to ensure our clients are fully informed of all aspects when it comes to the treatments that we offer, so a consultation and patch test is a compulsory appointment prior to any treatment.
