Pigmentation, age spots, sun damage and freckles

Even out your skin tone and achieve the beautiful skin you deserve with the latest technology and luxury beauty treatments available at our skin clinic in Oxfordshire.

If you have pigmentation spots or patches on your skin, you’re far from alone. This type of discolouration is very common, especially in more mature skin, although pigmentation can be present at birth and develop at any time.

Dark patches, spots, and other types of skin pigmentation happen when your skin produces extra melanin, the dark pigment in the skin (also responsible for freckles). Because they are often caused by exposure to the sun’s rays, most of us will have one or two dark patches as we get older, and this type of minor sun damage is extremely common. Age spots (sometimes called liver spots) are a similar type of pigmentation, also caused by excess melanin, and these tend to develop with age.

Skin pigmentation and age spots won’t go away on their own, and they can be aggravated by things like using harsh products on your skin, hormonal fluctuations and imbalances (from pregnancy or the contraceptive pill) and from using some types of medication. In some cases, there’s a medical reason for them such as a Vitamin B12 deficiency or inflammation from an injury or very bad acne. Smoking and sunbeds are the worst thing possible for them.

The good news is that we can help treat your pigmentation using different treatments at our West Hagbourne Clinic, South Oxfordshire. We can use IPL laser, Chemical Peels, Microdermabrasion & fantastic medical grade skincare products by Alumier to use along side & after treatment.
